The Ninu Cremona Lyceum Complex in Victoria is today joining some 4,500 schools all over Europe taking part in "Spring Day in Europe", dedicated to helping students understand the work of defining the future of Europe now taking place within the European Convention.
Pupils all over Europe will organising their own programmes to mark the day and spread awareness.
The Gozo lyceum is holding an exhibition by its art students entitled "Malta-EU. As I see it", another exhibition on "The EU members and candidate countries", as well as a declaration about the 'Costitution of Future Europe' by the students.
One of the organisers of the event, Peter Paul Buttigieg, a guidance teacher at the lyceum, said: "I believe we all have something to contribute to the project, no matter how small the contribution. In the end it makes something big!"
The school is a member of the myEurope Network.
Other schools in Europe are organising events such as discussions, meetings with celebrities and experts involved in European matters, and debates between pupils within the school or between pupils from schools in different countries, either directly or via the internet.
The Spring Day in Europe was developed with the EU Ministries of Education and is supported by the European Commission's Secretariat General: Public debate on the future of Europe Unit, Task Force on the Future of the Union.
European Schoolnet (EUN) has supported schools in their endeavours by providing a Spring Day web site with ideas, tools and activities for teachers and by building European Spring Day schools networks.
