The most recent issue (No 9) of The Gozo Observer is now available on the Web (www.gozo.com/ugc) and also available as a printed version from the University of Malta Gozo Centre, Mgarr Road, Xewkija (tel: 2156-4559).

The editorial is entitled "On the brink" (of joining the EU), and the issue contains a comprehensive report on the Gozo Youth Congress, a feature on Art in Gozo by Rebecca and Nicolette Vella, "On the specificity of Gozo and of Gozitan Female Labour" (Mary Darmanin), Ph.D. thesis review: Ray Xerri: Gozo in the World and the World in Gozo, a book review, "Definitive Church History", by Franco Masini, and "Negotiations on Gozo and the EU" by Dr Simon Busuttil.

Peter Foster, a teacher and researcher in psychology at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji, sent an e-mail: "I was delighted to come across The Gozo Observer from the University of Malta. It is one of the most interesting university magazines I have seen. It reflects important, current issues in a visually appealing way and makes these available to people like me - half a world away."
