BA air services

I refer to previous letters about air services to Malta and wish to clarify the current situation regarding the British Airways scheduled services.

British Airways services, operated by GB Airways, provide the Malta market with daily services to London and connect with worldwide flights from London. These services are distributed through global distribution selling systems and across the spectrum of travel agencies and internet sites.

British Airways, operated by GB Airways, from Gatwick to Malta has been serving the islands since May, 1996 with a year-round daily scheduled service now established. Fares have been steadily decreasing, having launched with a return fare of Lm105 nearly seven years ago, our lead return fare is now only Lm90.

Considering the effects of inflation over the past seven years, this equates to a reduction in real terms of 30 per cent. This is despite a backdrop of increased charges affecting the global aviation sector, such as higher fuel costs and navigation charges.

In an industry that has seen many airlines fail during tough times, we are proud to serve Malta and to offer competitive fares not only to and from London, but on to and from a global network.
