University girls step up their challenge

\nFollowing their first league victory over Kavallieri the previous week, the University girls claimed another win last weekend to move alongside Kavallieri at the top rung on six points.
It was a very tense encounter indeed as University had the better start to forge ahead, 4-2. Aloysians' reaction was immediate but by half-time, Stephan Vancell's University opened a three-goal lead - 7-4.
Aloysians staged a bold rally after the break. With both teams committing a number of errors, it was evident that the match was heading for a dramatic finale.
Tension was mounting as Aloysians, 8-9 in arrears, pressed forward in search of an equaliser. But, the University defence held tight to claim the points.

The balance that exists between these two teams was confirmed again last weekend. Both sides showed their potential but, as happened in their first-round encounter, the match ended in a draw.
Aloysians had the better start but La Salle managed to get back into the game to an extent that by half-time they were only one goal down - 8-7.
La Salle's best moments came when they were leading 12-10. But, Aloysians rallied back to tie the match at 13-all. From that moment onwards both teams ventured forward in search of all three points but neither of them managed to surge into a strong lead.
Player of the Year Andrew Said was La Salle's top marksman with 11 goals while Matthew Delicata and Kirill Micallef Stafrace scored seven and four goals respectively for Aloysians.
