Victor Borg and Joseph Vella, team captain and team manager of the Malta National Team of Chefs respectively, have been invited to be part of an international panel of judges at the prestigious Salon Culinaire, to be held in Glasgow, Scotland, later this month.
This is the first time that Maltese chefs have been selected to be part of a judging team in such a high standard event.
The invitation follows several years of experience in international competitions, high standard of performance and good results obtained by both Mr Borg and Mr Vella.
"The prestige and promotion through this event for Malta is unmeasurable. This confirms that for such a small island, we are recognised as capable of producing some of the best food," Mr Vella and Mr Borg said.
Scothot 2003, as the event is called, is organised by the World Association of Cooks Societies, the world's largest chefs organisation.
Mr Borg is chef patron of the award-winning restaurant Mange Tout, in St Paul's Bay, and Mr Vella is chef patron at Reflections Pub and Grill, in Mellieha, a new venue.
