UHM section secretary's death
Union Haddiema Maghqudin section secretary Edward Abela died early yesterday morning aged 67. He was secretary of the UHM's pensioners' section and a council member.
In a statement, the UHM said Mr Abela's death was a big blow to it and to Maltese trade unionism in general.
Mr Abela is survived by his wife and two children. The funeral will be held today at 2.45 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Church, Marsa. The union's headquarters will be closed from 2 p.m.
