At a recent meeting of the Maltese National Commission for UNESCO, its chairman, Professor Charles Farrugia, presented two illustrated packs on restoration techniques to Mr Anthony Pace, Superintendent of Cultural Heritage and Dr Joe Cannataci, director of the Restoration Centre at Bighi.

The packs provide step-by-step explanations of the restoration processes at the church of St Nicholas of the Probota monastery in Romania.

Each pack consists of a book lavishly illustrated with 843 colour pictures and 19 full A1 panels showing different stages of the restoration work.

The packs were produced by UNESCO in conjunction with the Japanese Trust Fund for the Preservation of the World Cultural Heritage.
