It is very disturbing to hear a major political party telling the people to vote no, or not to vote, or even worse, destroy the ballot paper.

A vote is a democratic right and no one should be telling the electorate how to vote.

In the 45 years that I lived in Canada I never heard politicians in that country telling the people to destroy their vote or how to vote, whether they were Socialist, Communists, Conservatives, or Liberals - we had them all. In fact, they always encouraged the people in all kinds of elections and referendums to come out and vote.

All kinds of help was available on voting day to the handicapped and senior citizens.

Any party that tells the people what to do with their vote, especially if the advice is to destroy it, does not deserve any support, let alone to govern.

That is why I am voting yes in the referendum and against any party that preaches to destroy the ballot paper in the coming election.
