One of Europe's oldest and grandest yachts, the Kalizma, recently completed a refit in Malta, entrusted to Melita Marine.

The MY Kalizma has a colourful history that includes service during both World Wars as well as having been owned by Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.

Built in 1906 by Ramage and Ferguson in Scotland, Kalizma once represented the latest thinking in hull and interior design. The basic elements of the original workmanship and attention to detail are still prevalent in the yacht, that now also features the latest satellite communications, airconditioning and advanced stabilising features.

Melita Marine's managing director, Pierre Balzan, said the company would continue to market Malta and its professional yachting industry services at major superyacht trade-shows around the world in 2003.
