Collis Gretton, (February 6) in typical pro-EU myth-making style, resorted to the only way these people can attempt to gain support for their unpopular EU propaganda. In his attack on me he stated that the UK Independence Party was a minor party of which every candidate lost his/her deposit in the 2001 UK general election.
This is typical of the European Movement's lack of research as a number of UKIP candidates retained their deposits. He also failed to mention that the UKIP vote in 2001 was considerably greater than that of the 1997 general election, or that UKIP also has three MEPs and is gaining seats on local councils around the UK. UKIP also aims to have up to 10 MEPs elected during the next European elections, due to its steadily growing membership and support.
Like many of his colleagues in what I term as the anti-European Movement, which is working towards the EU's ultimate goal of a single country called Europe, he glibly mentioned "sharing" sovereignty which, for some peculiar reason he calls "enhanced", rather than lost sovereignty.
On March 8, you will have to decide on EU membership. You can either vote for a massive and irrevocable change plunging Malta into the darkness of an unknown and uncertain pathway leading to an EU superstate in which Malta will become an unimportant tiny corner, or you can vote for the status quo and remain a free, independent sovereign nation.
