Pierre Mifsud and Isabelle Zahra were recently named as bodybuilders of the month at Bertu's Gym in Gharghur.
Mifsud, 35, started taking the sport seriously in 1994, quickly proving his potential. He won his first title in 1996, becoming NABBA Mr Malta.
From then on he never looked back, winning the NABBA Mr Malta title on four other occasions and representing the country on the international scene as well.
Zahra, who has two children, has always practised sport regularly, in particular bodybuilding, gymnastics and aerobics.
Her first achievement in bodybuilding was when she took part in a posedown at Bertu's Gym in December 2001.
She became the first woman to represent Malta abroad when last October she finished ninth, from a field of 20, in a competition in Newcastle, England.
