A European agricultural summit has sent a message of support for a yes vote to Maltese farmers, since "after accession, farmers' voice will be much stronger than they are today".
The European Summit of Agricultural and Cooperative Organisations from the Accession Countries and EU member states, held in Warsaw last week, was hosted by the Polish National Union of Farmers and the Polish Circles and Agricultural Organisations.
The summit was attended by Louis R. Naudi, the chairman and chief executive of the Malta Agriculture Lobby, which was asked to convey the message.
The declaration featured a special mention of Malta as the first accession country to hold a referendum about EU membership, and approved a declaration of solidarity with farmers in all EU acceding countries.
