The Sliema Band is bringing over Bulgarian tenor Kaludi Kaludow for the celebrity concert marking its 80th anniversary.

The concert, also being dedicated to the band's president, President Emeritus Censu Tabone, who will be celebrating his 90th birthday in March, will be held in the Sir Temi Zammit auditorium of the University of Malta, Tal-Qroqq, on March 1 at 7 p.m.

Kaludi Kaludow will interpret arias from some of the most popular operas, including the Tosca, Aida and the Cavalleria Rusticana as well as some classical songs.

The band, which will be conducted by Mro Ronnie Debattista, will perform a new composition, "Approaching a new horizon", to mark the band's anniversary.

A Lm1 donation is being requested for each ticket.

Tickets are available from the Sliema Band Club, Simler's Confectionery and MAJ Morris Stationers, in Sliema and from the La Valette Band Club, in Valletta.
