More qualifiers at Marsa

Eight of the nine events on yesterday's card at Marsa were qualifiers for Condition Races, all on the 2,140m distance. There was also a flat race on 1,200m.

Esard looked set to win Class A yesterday, the top race in programme, but was surprised on the finishing line by Charlie Camilleri's El Amor which was the only qualifier from this race.

Noel Baldacchino kept Idol Gelj continually in the lead in Class B, the next race in importance. As in Class A, this winner was the only trotter which made it to the Condition Race.

Gold Vinoir, driven by Baldacchino, led all the way home to make sure of his place in the next stage of the competition.

The flat race was won by Suberto, ridden by Omar Cauchi after taking the lead some 300m away from the post.
