The production of Anton Scicluna's musical comedy Cinderella, loosely based on the enchanting and ever popular fairy-tale, was the highlight of the end of year programme of activities at Canon G.P. Agius de Soldanis Girls' Junior Lyceum and Secondary School, Gozo.

The students and teachers at the school, who packed the Aurora Opera House, where the musical comedy was staged, were transported to the enchanting land and time of Cinderella.

Gordon Grech, peripatetic drama teacher for Gozo, who was responsible for the general direction, and Carmel Grech, the school's music teacher who was responsible for musical arrangements, playing and singing, managed to create the right ambience and magical atmosphere which one expects in this type of productions.

The cast, made up of over 100 students, was led by Nadine Mizzi in the title role, while Jessica Muscat and Jennifer Muscat played Cinderella's ugly sisters Zeza and Sosa respectively. Jody Tabone played the pompous yet hilarious part of the Baroness, the three sisters' mother. Kathy Grech, one of the school's librarians, ably coached the four students, who all played their part very convincingly.

The other main parts of the Prince, the Herald and the Fairy Godmother were played by the school's lab technician Eugene Bajada and two students, Connie Hili and Elaine Pavia, respectively.

Elsie Caruana, Mary Grace Calleja, Maria Mercieca, and Maria Attard were wardrobe mistresses. Choreography was the responsibility of Melissa Farrugia, Charmaine Attard, Simone Grech, and Erika Camilleri. Emily Saliba was in charge of make-up.

This production was made possible through the assistance received from the Gozo Drama School, the Mill Room Studio, and the Gozo Culture Section. The show's main sponsor was Office Mate - the computer and stationery shop.
