The annual inflation rate in the 15 member states of the EU rose from 2.1 per cent in November, 2002 to 2.2 per cent in December, 2002, the statistical office of the European Communities, Eurostat reported.

In December, 2001, the rate was 1.9 per cent.

In Malta, the inflation rate in December was 2.19 per cent, down from 2.55 per cent the previous month. The information was released through the Malta-EU Information Centre.
