President Guido de Marco has conveyed on his behalf and that of the government and the people of Malta messages of sympathy and condolence to the Presidents of the US and Israel, following the tragic loss of the space shuttle Columbia.

The executive committee and all the members of the Malta - Israel Cultural and Friendship Society also expressed their condolences on the loss of Commander Ilan Ramon and the Columbia crew.

"Commander Ramon signified the elite of Israel and represented the State of Israel and the entire Jewish people with honour and pride," the society said.
