Favourites Depiro Still retained their hold on the Louis Borg Cup after a handsome two-legged 146-79 victory over Luxol Vodafone.

As expected, Depiro, the team to beat this season in the MBA women's competitions, proved to be too strong for Luxol who had Simone Zammit temporarily leading the side but were still expected to provide a better challenge.

Depiro raced into a seven-point lead in Saturday's opening leg and despite Luxol's fine fare they went in for the break 29-15 ahead.

Charles Bonnici's girls continued to show more cohesion and fine play all the way, their last-minute efforts also seeing them taking an assuring 42-point lead (77-35) which practically guaranteed them the cup even before the second match was played.

In the second leg on Sunday, Depiro started pulling away immediately, going on to lead 36-21 at half-time.

Luxol did try to make a fight out of it but could never put their opponents into difficulty even though the latter had a second string selection on court in the latter stages. Depiro won 69-44.
