The Eagle fountain in the Mall Gardens, Floriana is slowly and painstakingly being restored to its former beauty by six students who attended courses in restoration organised by the Malta Centre for Restoration and the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology.

The fountain was originally located in Valletta but was moved to make way for the monument to Queen Victoria.

The works are being overseen by architects Claude Borg and Jevon Vella.

Other parts of the Valletta Rehabilitation Project's embellishment of the garden includes a new pavement design, decorative lighting and street furniture, which are being looked after by architect Shirley Cefai.

The garden was visited yesterday by Resources and Infrastructure Minister Francis Zammit Dimech.
