On members' request, the FOI is repeating the nine-session evening training course for safety representatives. The sessions, open to FOI members and non-members, will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from February 4 to March 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. at METCO, San Gwann.

The modules are designed to assist health and safety representatives nominated by the employers in understanding their roles and responsibilities. By the end of the training course the participants should, in particular:

¤ understand the need to work proactively to prevent workers from being exposed to occupational hazards in the workplace;

¤ understand the need to co-ordinate, on behalf of the management, how to identify and control hazards;

¤ understand the need to be well informed about the various hazards that may exist in their workplace and the possible solutions for controlling these hazards; and

¤ understand the need that employees are not to interfere with or misuse anything provided for purposes of health and safety, and that work items are to be used correctly.

For booking or more information on the course contact Anne Xuereb at the FOI Secretariat on tel: 2123-4428, 2122-2074, fax 2124-0702, or e-mail: info@foi.org.mt.
