A Rabat man was yesterday charged with extortion.

Mario Cutajar, 40, pleaded not guilty to threatening to defame or file a complaint against Melchior Bonnici with the intent to extort money or induce him to change a will and with attaining his end. He was also charged with handling stolen property.

Police Inspector Kevin J. Farrugia prosecuted.

Dr Anglu Farrugia appeared for the defendant.
