I feel that the inauguration on January 12, by the prime minister of Gnien il-Familja at the entrance to Qala should not go unnoticed. The local council, ably led by its popular mayor Paul Buttigieg, has converted an ugly dumping site into a marvellous pleasure park.
The project also includes a club house which incorporates public toilets, a fully equipped gymnasium, dressing rooms, showers and a large foyer, all tucked in beneath the adjacent training ground of Qala St Joseph FC. Architect Edward Scerri has ensured that its rustic layout blends well with its environs.
I would like to thank the mayor and all councillors, past and present, who have unselfishly worked hard to upgrade and embellish our little village. Their dedication and commitment have won the admiration and appreciation of one and all and the whole village is highly indebted to them.
Thank you again and well done!
