Pietà Hotspurs and Marsa will feature in the only clash between Premier League sides in the second round of the FA Trophy next month. Draws of the competition were held yesterday at the MFA headquarters.
The other three Premier sides in the draw, Floriana, Mosta and Marsaxlokk were all pitted against Division One opposition.
Floriana will play against Naxxar Lions while Marsaxlokk face a tricky tie against Msida St Joseph. The latter eliminated Hamrun Spartans in the first round last month. In the other match, Mosta face Mqabba.
Matches will be played on February 8 and 9 with the winners joining holders Birkirkara, Sliema Wanderers, Valletta and Hibernians in the quarter-final draw.
Pietà and Marsa have already met twice this season in the league. The Hotspurs won the first match 1-0 while the corresponding second round fixture ended in a 2-2 draw.
Pietà and Marsa both reached the last eight of the competition last season. In the second round, the Hotspurs had the better of Floriana 2-0 while Marsa ousted Rabat 4-0. Their cup run, however, ended there as Pietà were eventually edged out by Sliema while Marsa lost to Valletta.
