Political parties should concentrate on persuading voters to vote for them and not on eliminating their most basic democratic rights, Alternattiva Demokratika chairman Harry Vassallo said.
Dr Vassallo welcomed the withdrawal of the objections filed by the Nationalist Party aimed at removing the names of certain elderly people from the electoral register.
"It was a very serious mistake and we should all be glad that the PN did not persist in compounding the error. It would be equally heartening to hear that the Labour Party will be withdrawing its own similar objections," he said.
Dr Vassallo again criticised the MLP for attempting to remove the name of AD's EU spokesman, Arnold Cassola.
The MLP has filed a court application to have Dr Cassola struck off the register, claiming he did not satisfy the legal residency requirements that would make him eligible to vote.
A voter has to be resident in Malta for at least six months in the 18 months before the publication of an electoral register.
Dr Cassola is also the general secretary of the European Federation of Green Parties.
