The huge amount of legislative work to amend the Consumer Affairs Act has put Maltese consumers on a par with their European counterparts, according to the parliamentary secretary in the Ministry for Economic Services, George Hyzler.
Dr Hyzler was speaking at an information meeting on sale of goods to consumers held by the Consumer and Competition Division in collaboration with the Malta Business Bureau at Le Meridien Hotel Phoenicia.
Dr Hyzler said that EU directives on consumer rights had been transposed under legislation enforced by the Consumer and Competition Division.
Dr Hyzler said consumer legislation was a major concern to consumers, but was just as important to traders who needed to know the rules of the game.
