The 24th Xaghra Song Festival, organised by the Victory Band Club in collaboration with Xaghra council, and with the participation of Renato and Norma Camilleri, was held recently at the band club's hall.

In all, 27 singers, aging between seven and 19, took part. The festival was divided into five categories. The first and second categories were won by siblings Christian and Gabriella Grech. Francine Grima won the third category, and Ruth Portelli won the fourth category. Silvana Bonello and Audrey Bartolo placed both first in the fifth category.

The Best Interpretation Award and the Gorg Cini Overall Memorial Cup were both awarded to Silvana Bonello, a 19-year-old singer from Xaghra, who had also placed first at the Marian Song Festival held last November at the Cathedral in Victoria.
