This year would be one of innovations from Fiat, UCIM Co. Ltd managing director Francesca Mamo said.

Ms Mamo was speaking at the launch of the new Fiat Palio and Siena at the Fiat Showroom in Birkirkara yesterday.

"The three- and five- door Palio models and the Siena five-door saloon model were designed with a philosophy in mind, that of offering an excellent balance between quality, price and very low running costs.

"Both models, which are compact and elegant, bear an Italian-style look and most importantly are safe and comfortable," UCIM sales manager Massimo Panzavecchia said.

The Palio (three-door) starting price is Lm3,999 while the five-door is selling at Lm4,100. The Siena, which includes airconditioning, power steering, electric windows, central locking, driver's airbag, rev counter and engine immobiliser, is selling at Lm4,550.

All models are equipped with the Fiat code immobiliser - a state-of-the-art device which uses a rolling system to change the code each time the car is started. The device is coded in the factory together with the body computer.

All the Palio and Sienna models offer features that until now were only offered by higher market segment cars.
