Countryside walks being organised by the Malta Tourism Authority were proving to be increasingly popular with both Maltese and tourists, a spokesman for the MTA said yesterday.
The spokesman said that although there were no official figures as yet, the demand for the booklets about the walks published by the authority had been high.
Three booklets on countryside walks in Malta, at Girgenti, Bahrija and Dwejra Lines, and two in Gozo, at Ta' Gurdan and Dahlet Qorrot, have been published so far - with more planned in future.
The walks were launched by the authority's Product Planning and Development Directorate as one in a series of initiatives that the MTA contributed to the International Year of Ecotourism programme last year.
The MTA has published information booklets about each walk. The booklets include an informative text and map, making the publications very user-friendly.
German translations of the walks are to be published in the coming months.
