A number of student organisations have disassociated themselves from the motion in favour of the European Union approved by the Kunsill Studenti Universitarji.
Pulse, Moviment Graffitti, MOVE and the Anthropology Society issued a joint statement yesterday saying they refused to be associated with KSU in the distribution of information which was imbalanced and incorrect.
KSU earlier this week took a stand in favour of Malta joining the EU at the next enlargement. The student body is to approve an action plan tomorrow in the run-up to the EU referendum in an attempt to convince as many students as possible about the benefits of membership.
The KSU, the largest student organisation, adopted the motion on Monday with 19 votes in favour, two against, and three abstentions.
The other student organisations argued that not enough time was dedicated to the discussion on the motion, and that the package obtained during negotiations was never brought up.
They also said the KSU did not have an electoral mandate from students to take a position for or against the EU.
