Carlo Gavazzi Ltd would be facing a number of challenges this year, in the wake of a still struggling global economic situation and increased competition, company managing director Ray Attard said.
The accent would be on elimination of waste, lean production principles and development of new products that would meet the market's expectations. The company is a world market leader for automation components, particularly in the field of solid state relays.
He was speaking during a recent ceremony at the factory premises in Bulebel, during which Dorianne Grech, an engineer from Gozo, won the company's Employee of the Year award.
Medals were also presented to employees for their length of service. One employee celebrated 15 years with Carlo Gavazzi, two had their 10th anniversary, while 20 received the five years of service award.
In 2003, Carlo Gavazzi Ltd will also celebrate its 25th year of operations in Malta.
