The Labour Party believed that Maltese and Gozitans were capable of building up a country of opportunities on their own steam, in which workers and their families would look to a better standard of living, Labour leader Alfred Sant said yesterday.

Addressing a social activity organised by the party at the National Labour Centre in Hamrun, he said families could no longer cope with the rising cost of living and with the uncertainty at their workplace.

He appealed to those present to attend the party's mass meeting at Marsa on January 19.
