China will for the first time be taking part in the International Food Festival, being held at the Oracle Centre of the New Dolmen Hotel in Qawra from Friday to January 14, the Malta China Friendship Society said.

The Chinese participation follows a suggestion by the society's president, Reno Calleja. The society has been appointed to make the arrangements for China's participation in the festival.

China will be represented by senior chefs Zhou Deyou and Zhang Yan. Other countries taking part include Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus and Malta.

The society said a China Night will be held at the New Dolmen during the festival.
