Cinema experience
We refer to Mark Camilleri's letter "Two Towers farce" (December 28).
It was indeed unfortunate that Mr Camilleri had such a bad experience while visiting our cinema multiplex where we always strive to provide the best service possible to our patrons. Power cuts from Enemalta, as had happened on that day, are totally unforeseen and do create considerable problems and unnecessary inconvenience.
We wish, however, to clarify a couple of things. The power failure was not caused by works going on in the area "by the Eden Leisure Group", as power cuts were experienced in other localities as well.
We would also like to assure Mr Camilleri, as indeed all our patrons, that the Eden Century Cinemas multiplex is fully equipped with back-up generators, which explains his comment that the house lights were on during the film break.
To restart the projectors in all theatres does, however, take a little longer as the projectionists would have to restart each film from the point of breakdown. This procedure avoids segments of the movie being missed.
As for the usher's handling of the situation, we do apologise for any inappropriate comments made. We train our ushering staff to be sensitive to our patrons' comfort and enjoyment; regrettably, this did not seem to be evident in this particular instance.
On a positive note, we are pleased that Mr Camilleri enjoyed the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. We hope he will continue to enjoy visiting Malta's largest THX cinema. I will be very happy to personally furnish Mr Camilleri with any further explanation he may require.
