Dr Carmen Depasquale, Head of the Department of French, has read a paper entitled Un personnage en quête d'argent: l'abbé Boyer at an international and interdisciplinary colloquium, Argent et literature, XVII et XVIIIe siècles held at the Université Paris X Nanterre last month.

In her paper, Dr Depasquale outlined Abbé Boyer's adventures in Guyana, Rome and Malta and commented on a manuscript of the National Library of Malta authored by him.

Dr Depasquale was also invited to give a lecture at the Université Francois Rabelais, Tours, within the programme of studies of students preparing for the DEA (M.Phil.) degree. Her lecture, on the theme L'Histoire du Livre, was entitled Une littérature francaise de Malte au XVIIIe siècle.
