The University of Malta's intellectual leadership in the area of islands and small states studies continues to command international respect. The latest book in the Challenge of Scale series published by the London-based Commonwealth Secretariat is the result of the research output of a scale-sensitive, post-graduate diploma run at the Faculty of Education of the University of Malta between 1994-1998.
Educational Planning & Management in Small States: Concepts and Experiences presents the critical reflections of 18 senior officials working in ministries and departments of education in 12 small states. Their comments are driven by the insights they gained as adult participants in a unique post-graduate programme at the University of Malta devised by and for the distinct small-scale imagination.
The 305-page book is co-edited by Professor Godfrey Baldacchino (sociologist and island and small state specialist) and Professor Charles J. Farrugia (Pro-Rector, former Dean of the Faculty of Education and co-ordinator of the post-graduate diploma in educational planning and management in small states).
