RTK raises funds for Siggiewi homes

More than Lm58,000 had been collected by early yesterday evening in the seventh annual RTK fund-raising marathon in aid of Dar tal-Providenza.

This year the show included an open day and a variety programme which was televised on cable channel EWTN.

People making donations in person were taken on a tour of the four homes making up Dar tal-Providenza, namely Villa Papa Giovanni, Villa Papa Lucian, Villa Mgr Gonzi and Zerniq.

These cater in all for 123 residents aged between four and 70, at an annual expense of between Lm1.3 million and Lm1.4 million that goes mostly to pay the salaries of the home's 234 full-time employees.

There are 65 volunteers who carry out specific tasks on particular dates.

Visitors to Dar tal-Providenza had the opportunity to meet the 123 residents.
