As F. Muscat wrote recently, the secondary roads in Mosta, Anglu Gatt Street, Cassar Street, Spring Street and Oratory Street, are not meant to take the heavy traffic which currently flows through them daily. So far as these roads are concerned, the one-way system of traffic introduced some years ago has substantially increased, rather than decreased, the flow of traffic in the heart of Mosta.

This has turned some of these streets practically into main roads, which also intersect with other main roads in some instances.

Pleas regarding the situation were made with the authorities, including the local council but to no avail.

It was once indicated that the present system had been introduced on an experimental basis but six years have passed and we are still in the same situation and the same traffic system prevails. A new road under construction, which is designed to take on heavier traffic, is often mentioned as being a possible solution to the problem.

It is hoped that those responsible will see that the present dangerous state of affairs will be resolved as soon as possible.
