Two men were found to have Aids, acquired immune deficiency syndrome, in October, the latest monthly report from the Department of Public Health said.

The October report on notifiable infectious diseases said that the two men had died. This brings to four the total number of Aids cases this year. Last year, no Aids cases were reported.

Health Minister Louis Deguara told parliament in September that the total number of Aids cases involving Maltese residents reported up to the end of August was 53, including two for 2002.

There were 197 HIV positive cases up to August, of which two were foreigners.
