A Valletta man was yesterday charged with complicity in a hold-up at Solid Gold Jewellery in St Paul's Bay last Thursday.
Ivan Galea, 28, pleaded not guilty to stealing more than Lm1,000 worth in gold and precious stones from the jewellery shop to the detriment of Anthony Saliba at about 1.20 p.m.
He also pleaded not guilty to:-
¤ holding Marion Borg and Daniela Vella against their will,
¤ using violence to force them to do his bidding,
¤ causing over Lm500 damage to showcases at the shop,
¤ carrying a firearm at the time of the commission of the crime,
¤ keeping and carrying a firearm without a licence,
¤ stealing Maggie Marian Gingell Littlejohn's car in Swieqi on December 15,
¤ causing more than Lm50 damage to her car,
¤ stealing car registration plates from Ruth Custò's car in Birkirkara on December 13,
¤ handling stolen property,
¤ and relapsing.
Galea was remanded in custody.
Police Inspectors Pio Pisani and Carmelo Magri prosecuted.
