Bluewater Energy Services B.V., a member of the multinational Bluewater Group of Companies, has awarded a contract to Malta Shipbuilding for the fabrication and construction of a Single Point Mooring buoy.
The work is expected to start in early 2003 and be completed in the third quarter of the year.
"Malta Shipyards was chosen due to its strategic location and its excellent potential to perform work for the offshore industry," said Bluewater vice president Jesse van de Korput.
"Successful completion of this project may lead to future orders," he said.
Bluewater personnel will be on site throughout the course of the work, to supervise the fabrication and to assist the shipyard's personnel in completing the work according to Bluewater's stringent health, safety and quality standards.
Bluewater Energy Services B.V. has built a technological lead specialising in lease and operation of tanker-based production and storage systems, and has become a leading provider of innovative Single Point Mooring systems.
Bluewater operates worldwide with offices in Holland, UK, the US, South Africa, Nigeria, Angola, China, and Singapore.
Asked the value of the contract, shipyard chairman John Cassar White said he could not reveal it since the information was of a commercial nature.
