Peter Azzopardi, Ricky Baldacchino, Gerald Grech and Charles Cilia posted the fastest overall time of the day for AS Libertas to become the third different team to win the Village-to-Village Road Relay after Zurrieq Wolves and St Patrick's AC.

The Libertas quartet stopped the clock in a record time of 57.52, 20 seconds faster than Zurrieq Wolves. St Patrick's AC, previous record holders for the 18.1k race between Vittoriosa and Birzebbuga in 58.26, were third followed by the Mellieha AC team.

In the ladies' race, there seemed to be no challenge for the strong St Patrick's AC team who covered the distance in remarkable style.

Charmaine Sciberras, Giselle Camilleri, Carmen Hili and Cecilia Fenech were the runners for the Saints whose junior team retained the title they won last year.
