United Automobile Limited yesterday launched the new Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan in Malta, available in three brand new all-aluminium, turbo-charged two-litre petrol engines with 150, 175 or 210 bhp respectively and a 2.2-litre (125 bhp) turbo diesel engine.

The car is available with a new five-speed automatic transmission or with a sequential manual transmission whereby the gears may be changed by using the buttons on the steering wheel or with the gear lever.

With this model, Saab are introducing the Saab Trionic 8, their latest engine management system.

Designed specifically to reduce skids, the manufacturers say the Saab 9-3 enhances driving stability through the electronic stability programme system. This is further improved by a traction control system, which provides an anti-spin system on slippery roads as it balances grip between the driven wheels and gives more traction while driving.

Besides the full extras provided by the Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan, other innovative communication facilities can now be used within the car, such as a Bluetooth-enabled laptop, PDA, or headset.
