MKSU (Moviment Kattoliku Studenti Universitarji) will be organising an Organ Donation Awareness Campaign, a Blood Drive on Campus and an Unplugged Concert, a joint activity inviting students to be generous so that others might live.
This threefold event will take place next Tuesday and Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Students' House and will open with a press conference on Tuesday at 9.30 a.m. addressed by Health Minister Dr Louis Deguara, MKSU president Simon Bartolo and representatives of the Blood Transfusion Unit, the SMOM Blood Bank and the Transplant Support Group.
The activity, which is one of the series of MKSU activities rooted in social commitment, will feature qualified staff collecting blood in the Junior Common Room, information regarding organ donation and signing up for organ donor card in the Foyer, while in the Canteen, the cream of local talent including Fakawi, Corkscrew, Crosswalk, Gianni and others will be entertaining all present with unplugged music from their repertoire.
Last year the students themselves set a record when in a single day over 800 of them signed up for an organ donor card. This year MKSU are aiming to raise 100 pints of blood over the two days. MKSU, which is being supported by Vodafone Malta, Il-Gens and RTK, is encouraging all students to be there on the day and play their part too; in other words to be the change one wants to see!
