LENICKER. On November 20, at Heatherwood Hospital, Ascot, UK, to Josianne and Reinhard, a son - HUGH SEBASTIAN, a welcome brother to Petra.

TREEBY WARD. On December 7, at Karin Grech Hospital Maternity Wing, to Iona née Caruana and Christopher, God's precious gift of a first-born son - JAKE. Special thanks to the obstetrician, the labour and post-natal ward staff for their dedication.

Marriages

Dr NOEL BARTOLO, BA, LL.D., MA (Fin. Serv.) and Miss MARIE CLAIRE MIFSUD, BA, LP
The marriage took place on Sunday, December 8 at St Patrick's church, Sliema, between NOEL, son of Mr and Mrs John L. Bartolo of Cospicua, and MARIE CLAIRE, daughter of Mr and Mrs Anthony A. Mifsud of Kappara. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by Fr Carmel Mifsud, SDB, and co-celebrants Canon Anton Gouder and Canon Michael Zammit. The ceremony was witnessed by Dr Joseph Micallef Stafrace and Dr Anthony Abela. The duties of best man were ably carried out by Dr Neville Camilleri, whereas Dr Mark Anthony Mifsud Cutajar, Mr Thomas Woods and Dr Ian Stafrace acted as ushers. The bride was attended by Dr Lydia Zerafa, Dr Tatianne Cassar and Miss Melanie Cassar. A reception was later held at Villa Arrigo, San Pawl tat-Targa.

Mr PAUL BUGEJA and Miss MARIA PAULA LUCAS
The couple were married on Sunday, December 8, at St Sebastian parish church, Qormi, between PAUL, son of Mr and Mrs G. Bugeja of Qormi, and MARIA PAULA, daughter of Mrs Iris Lucas and the late Mr David Lucas of Guardamangia. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by Fr Nicholas Cachia. The bride was given away by her brother, Mr Ian Lucas. Mr Godwin Lucas and Ms Nancy Galea witnessed the ceremony. Mr Paul Spiteri and Mr Carmelo Micallef carried out the duties of best men. Ms Charlene Galea and Ms Melanie Micallef were bridesmaids, while Ms Leah Eddleston was flower-girl. Roderick Micallef, Roberto Bugeja and Christian Caruana were pageboys. A reception was later held at the Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort, St Julian's.

Mr DAVID BUSUTTIL, BA (Hons) Accty, FIA, CPAA and Miss FRANCESCA CURMI
The marriage took place on Thursday, December 12, at the Capuchins' Friary, Floriana, between DAVID, son of Major and Mrs Vincent Busuttil of Santa Lucija, and FRANCESCA, daughter of Mr and Mrs Joseph Curmi of St Julian's. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by Fr Edgar Busuttil. The ceremony was witnessed by Mr Gabriel Callus and Miss Rebecca Tabone. Mr Karl Serracino carried out the duties of best man. The bride was attended by Miss Daniela Grech and Miss Nadine Busuttil as bridesmaids. Miss Zoe Muscat was flower-girl and Master Peter Camilleri was pageboy. Mr David Curmi and Mr Peter Busuttil acted as ushers. A reception was later held at Olive Gardens, Mdina. The couple will be spending their honeymoon in the Far East.

The marriage took place on December 7, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Fgura, between CARL JAMES, son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Debono of Sliema, and ILONA, daughter of Mr and Mrs Anthony Blackman of Fgura. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by Dr Julian Sammut, OFM, S.Th.D. The ceremony was witnessed by Ms Jeanne Michèle Blackman, BE&A (Hons), A&CE, and Dr Ing. Adrian Muscat, B.Eng. (Hons), M.Sc., Ph.D. The bride was attended by Ms Nicole Blackman and Ms Anna Marie Debono. Mr Carmelo Formosa, BA (Hons) Pub. Admin., MBA (MSM), MIM, carried out the duties of best man. A reception was later held at Palazzo Parisio, Naxxar.

Obituary

BORG. On December 6, suddenly in London, JOHN JOSEPH sive JOHNNIE, son of the late John Borg and Mary née Meli, aged 46, formerly of Valletta, residing in London, passed away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his beloved mother Mary, his sisters Maria and her husband Edgar Borg, and Rita and her husband Emmanuel Tabone, his brother Francis, his nephews and nieces Christian, Anthony, Lara and Martha, his former wife Paula Surleau, his aunt Maria and her husband Anthony Pirotta, his uncle Joseph F. Borg and his wife Pauline, his cousins, relatives and friends.
The funeral took place yesterday. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CALLEJA. On Saturday, December 14, at St Luke's Hospital, MARY, née Demajo, aged 94. She leaves to mourn her great loss her beloved daughter Antoinette and her husband Manfred Galdes, her grandchildren Anna Maria, John and Manfred and their families, her sister Consie Demajo, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
Mass praesente cadavere will be held tomorrow at 10.30 a.m. at Casa Leone XIII, St Julian's, followed by interment in the family chapel at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Casa Leone XIII will be appreciated.

PACE DECESARE. On December 13, PHYLLIS, née Wirth, aged 79, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Ronald, her daughters Audrey, wife of Robert Aquilina, Rowena, wife of Anthony Manduca, and Anthea, wife of Bernard Zammit, her grandchildren Karl, Ira, Mark, Julia, Edward, Philip and John, her brothers Willy and his wife Jolly, Henry and his wife Gladys, Lorry and his wife Anna, Edgar and his wife Nanette, and Arthur, her sisters Molly Wirth, Yvonne Marich, Irene, Babs Cutugno, Monica Borg Testaferrata, Rizette and her sister-in-law Mary, widow of her brother Oliver, other in-laws, relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves Capua Hospital tomorrow at 8.45 a.m. for Jesus of Nazareth church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Hospice Movement will be appreciated.

Requiem Masses

Today being the first anniversary of the death of Mgr CARMELO BIANCO, Masses said at 8 and 11 a.m. at the Mdina Cathedral will be offered for the repose of his soul. Another Mass with the same intention will be said on Sunday, December 22, at 6.30 p.m. at Stella Maris parish church, Sliema.
