Michael A. Cassar, assistant director of Education for Gozo, will be retiring after 42 years' service.
Mr Cassar started his service in the Education Department in 1960 as a teacher, in 1988 as administrator and later as headmaster at Kercem and Xaghra schools, and at Sir M.A. Refalo post-secondary complex.
He was instrumental in the setting up of the Gozo School of Music.
Mr Cassar was also a dedicated MUT member and was chairman of the MUT Gozo Membership Committee for 12 years.
Recently, Mr Cassar hosted a reception for the Gozo Education office staff, heads and assistant heads of schools, and members of the Gozo Council of Education, where Minister Giovanna Debono thanked him for his valuable work for the education sector in Gozo. Minister Debono said that he left an indelible mark and will be remembered for his dedication and hard work.
