Malta-Libya talks

Libyan trade secretary Shoukri Muhammad Ghanem started a two-day visit to Malta yesterday.

Mr Ghanem met Finance Minister John Dalli who said he looked forward to the meetings to strengthen existing relations with Libya.

"Malta wants to improve its relationship and it will be a stronger interlocutor with Mediterranean countries such as Libya when it joins the European Union," Mr Dalli said.

Mr Ghanem said he was happy to be in Malta and Libya too wanted "stronger ties and stronger neighbours".

He said he was convinced that relations with Malta would go from strength to strength.
