Tourism Minister Michael Refalo said yesterday he hoped infrastructural works currently in hand in Paceville would be completed by Christmas.

Speaking when he switched on Christmas lights in the locality, the minister said the Malta Tourism Authority was close to finalising a plan for the embellishment of the locality which would tie in with the master plan for the locality being implemented by the ministries of the infrastructure, home affairs and tourism.

The plan covered the stretch from the area near the Institute of Tourism Studies where a conference centre and extensive parking facilities would be built, to the rehabilitation of St George's Bay and Mercury House.

The authority's plan would include the restoration of the environs of Spinola Palace and better organisation of commercial life in Paceville.

Dr Refalo insisted, however, that the needs of Paceville residents also needed to be given high priority.

The Christmas lights were sponsored by the Tourism Authority.
