MITTS Limited is launching a MITTS Ltd Public ICT Discussion Forum to promote professional debates locally on the evolution of Information and Communications Technology issues.

The forum, to be held bi-monthly, will discuss issues that affect ICT policy areas - ranging from education for cyber smart children to the economics of ICT. The venue for these forum debates is the Main Hall of the Chamber of Commerce, Valletta.

The Forum debates, which will be informal and loosely structured but moderated, will be held between 5.45 and 7.30 p.m. - and will be followed by the electronic issuance of the debates held in the Forum together with a report by the rapporteur.

The topic for discussion is 'Open Source Software: Fad or True Alternative?' The discussion will be built around two presentations: an overview of international developments in open source; and work under way in the Malta Government in terms of determining a road map in this regard, including presentation of proof of concept pilots relating to office and service based open source software.
