Accused of defrauding man of Lm4,000

A Valletta man was yesterday charged with defrauding a man of Lm4,000.

Johann Debono, 29, pleaded not guilty to defrauding Carmel Cremona of Lm4,000, making illicit gains and attempting to defraud Cremona on and after December 2.

He also pleaded not guilty to simulating an offence, fabricating evidence and the possession of cannabis resin in Manikata on December 5 at about 5 p.m.

Debono was granted bail against a Lm250 deposit and a personal guarantee of Lm1,000.

Police Inspector Geoffrey Azzopardi prosecuted.

Dr Chris Grima appeared for Debono.
