The Malta Stock Exchange Share Index decreased by 27.236 points over the week, which is equal to a loss of 1.46 per cent, and now stands at 1,834.839.

These past five trading sessions proved to be busy for Bank of Valletta shares, which saw 20,819 shares being traded over 38 deals, the highest equity turnover for the week.

The majority of the deals were struck at Lm2.70. Friday saw the price touch the Lm2.701 mark before going down to close again at Lm2.70. Following the close of business on Friday, best bids for 500 shares at Lm2.651 stood against best offers of 330 shares at Lm2.70.

In a company announcement issued on Tuesday, Bank of Valletta plc published the resolutions which will be presented for consideration at the bank's annual general meeting, to be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre on December 18.

These include: approval of the profit and loss account and balance sheet for the year ended September 30 and directors' and auditors' report thereon; approval of a gross dividend of 11 cents per share and a special gross dividend of five cents per share; the reappointment of the auditors, and the appointment of the directors.

All trading during the week in International Hotels Investments shares was conducted at Lm0.85. Nine deals were struck, over which 4,680 shares changed hands between Monday and Wednesday. This equity did not trade on Thursday and Friday. As business drew to a close on Friday, 3,400 shares at Lm0.83 were left as best outstanding bids, while best offers of 13,614 shares at Lm0.85 were still unsatisfied.

Trading in HSBC shares opened at Lm3.85 on Monday, when 1,500 shares changed hands over two deals. Another two deals were struck at the same price on Tuesday, this time amounting to a turnover of 2,500.

Next trading on Thursday, a single deal for 500 shares was struck at Lm3.75, dragging the price down by 10c on the previous close. Friday's session saw one deal for 200 shares being struck at Lm3.76, up by 1c on Thursday's close.

At the end of the day on Friday, 1,000 shares at Lm3.76 were the best unsatisfied bids while 1,500 shares at Lm3.80 were the best offers still outstanding.

Maltacom shares started trading on Monday at Lm1.055 and went down to close at Lm1.05, still up by 0c5 from the previous close. Here, two deals were struck for a turnover of 11,000 shares.

Six deals were struck during the following session, between the opening price of Lm1.045 and the closing price of Lm1.02, with turnover amounting to 7,840 shares. A single deal for 250 shares was struck at Lm1.025 on Wednesday, while no trading was conducted in the equity during Thursday's session.

On Friday, three deals for 1,250 shares were struck between the opening price of Lm1.026 and the closing price of Lm1.025, leaving the latter unchanged. Bids for 500 shares at Lm1.011 and offers of 1,850 shares at Lm1.03 made up the best unsatisfied positions following Friday's session.

A drop of 15c was registered in the closing price of Middlesea Insurance plc shares, when on Friday four deals were struck between Lm1.849 and Lm1.85, the closing price. Turnover amounted to just 500 shares. No bids were left following Friday's trading session, while best offers of 60 shares at Lm1.845 remained outstanding.

One deal was struck in GloBAl Financial Services Group plc on Wednesday, in which 2,000 shares changed hands at Lm0.13, unchanged from the previous close. Friday saw the equity lose 0c9, as another deal for 10,000 shares was struck at Lm0.121.

Trading over the week in Corporate Bonds was made up of a total value of Lm299,187.40, spread as follows:

- Four deals struck in the 6.15 per cent Bank of Valletta 2010, in which a nominal value of Lm61,200 changed hands between Lm102.50 and Lm103.

- Eleven deals struck in the eight per cent Bank of Valletta 2010 (USD), in which a nominal value of USD 156,500 changed hands between USD 111.99 and USD 112.01.

- One deal struck in the 6.5 per cent CC Car Parks 2006, in which a nominal value of Lm2,000 changed hands at Lm102.51.

- One deal struck in the 6.7 per cent Corinthia Finance 2009, in which a nominal value of Lm94,000 changed hands at Lm102.25.

- One deal struck in the 6.75 per cent Corinthia Finance 2012, in which a nominal value of Lm500 changed hands at Lm102.

- Two deals struck in the 6.5 per cent CareMalta Finance 2008/11, in which a nominal value of Lm2,300 changed hands at Lm101.

- One deal struck in the 6.7 per cent Eden Finance 2010, in which a nominal value of Lm500 changed hands at Lm99.

- One deal struck in the 7.25 per cent HSBC 2005 (Put-Through Market), in which a nominal value of Lm300 changed hands at Lm105.

- Ten deals struck in the MGP Bonds, in which a nominal value of Lm44,100 changed hands between Lm99 and Lm100.

- Two deals struck in the 6.7 per cent Mizzi Organisation Finance 2009/12, in which a nominal value of Lm8,000 changed hands at Lm101.50 and Lm102.70.

- One deal struck in the 6.6 per cent Simonds Farsons Cisk 2010/12, in which a nominal value of Lm500 changed hands at Lm103.50.

- Three deals struck in the 6.7 per cent Tumas Investments 2010/12, in which a nominal value of Lm8,500 changed hands at Lm101.

- Two deals struck in the 7.5 per cent Hotel San Antonio 2012, in which a nominal value of Lm1,000 changed hands at Lm97.01.

Total Malta Government Stock turnover over the week amounted to a nominal value of Lm262,900 being struck in 46 deals over 21 different stocks.
